Billing and Plans

!!! info "TL;DR" Four plans: Free, Startup, Growth, and Scale. The value metric is monthly survey responses. Upgrades go through Stripe Checkout and charge immediately; everything after that happens in the Stripe Customer Portal. An expired trial drops to Free without deleting anything.

Where billing lives

Admin → Settings. The billing panel sits on the settings page and shows your current plan, a status badge, your response usage for the month, and the upgrade controls. Owners and admins can reach it; other roles cannot.

The plans

Prices are per organization, in USD.

Plan Monthly Annual Responses / month
Free $0 $0 100
Startup $199 $166 / month 1,000
Growth $499 $416 / month 5,000
Scale $999 $833 / month Unlimited

Annual billing works out to roughly one quarter free: $1,992, $4,992, and $9,996 per year respectively.

What each plan includes

Limit Free Startup Growth Scale
Responses / month 100 1,000 5,000 Unlimited
Team members 1 3 Unlimited Unlimited
Surveys 1 5 20 Unlimited
Submissions 100 5,000 50,000 Unlimited
Categories 3 10 50 Unlimited
Active API keys 5 5 25 Unlimited
MCP agents 0 1 5 Unlimited
AI calls / month 0 500 2,000 Unlimited
File upload size 5 MB 25 MB 100 MB 500 MB
REST API access No Yes Yes Yes
GitHub integration No Yes Yes Yes
Priority support No No Yes Yes
Custom domain No No No Yes
Remove Canviq branding No No No Yes

The free tier is capped on usage, not on features. Hitting the 100-response ceiling is the intended moment to upgrade. Free does not include REST API access, MCP agents, or AI-scored sentiment, so those are the exceptions.

Trials

A new organization starts on a 14 day trial with Growth-equivalent response limits. Install the SDK during the trial and it extends to 30 days.

You get reminder emails 7 and 1 day before the trial ends, plus a notice on the day it expires.

When a trial ends without a paid subscription, the organization resolves to Free at read time. The stored plan is not rewritten and no data is deleted. You keep your PMF score, your history, and your board. What changes is the enforced ceiling: anything above the Free limits stops until you upgrade.

Founder cards

If you signed up after scanning a founder card, your first 90 days on Startup are free. The grant is applied as a trial on the subscription when you open Checkout for Startup, so nothing happens until you actually upgrade.

Two dates matter. Cards must be scanned before 8 November 2026 to redeem. Once redeemed, the grant stays spendable for a year, so there is no rush to upgrade the same week.

The billing panel shows the offer while it is live. If you need more time than the 90 days, reply to the reminder email and a human will sort it out. Nothing in the product extends a trial on its own.

Upgrading

  1. Open Admin → Settings and find the billing panel.
  2. Pick monthly or annual with the interval toggle.
  3. Click Upgrade Startup, Upgrade Growth, or Upgrade Scale.
  4. Complete Stripe Checkout.

Upgrading charges immediately. It does not start a second trial, with the single exception of an unredeemed founder card, which applies its 90 days at this point.

If your organization already has an active subscription, the plan buttons read Change to Growth and open the Customer Portal instead of Checkout. Stripe handles the proration.

Changing or cancelling

Manage Subscription opens the Stripe Customer Portal. Everything after the first purchase happens there:

  • Update the card on file
  • Switch plans or billing interval
  • Download invoices
  • Cancel

Cancelling in the portal ends the subscription at the end of the paid period. The organization then resolves to Free.

Deleting the organization

Admin → Settings → Danger Zone, owner only. You confirm by typing the organization slug exactly, which is case sensitive.

Deletion removes the organization, revokes every session, and writes an audit entry. It also cancels the Stripe subscription and deletes the Stripe customer record, so there is no separate cancellation step to remember. This is irreversible.

Audit trail

Admin → Settings → Audit lists every security-relevant action on the organization, including billing and plan changes. Filter by category and page through the history. Admins and owners only.
