Canviq Respondent Guide¶
What to expect when you receive a survey or visit a feedback board powered by Canviq.
Surveys¶
Why am I seeing this survey?¶
The product you use has added a brief survey to gather your feedback. The survey appears because you have been identified as an engaged user. Your input is being used to shape the product's direction.
The survey is not an advertisement. You will not be added to any mailing list as a result of completing it.
What does the survey ask?¶
Most surveys using Canviq ask a few short questions, typically two to four. The most common question is:
"How would you feel if you could no longer use this product?"
- Very disappointed
- Somewhat disappointed
- Not disappointed
This is followed by an open-text question asking you to describe the main benefit you get from the product.
Your answers are sent directly to the product team. Canviq processes them on the team's behalf but does not sell or share your responses with third parties.
Can I skip or dismiss the survey?¶
Yes. Close the survey sheet at any time using the X button in the top-right corner. Your partial responses are not saved. Dismissing will not affect your experience with the product.
If you dismiss the survey, you may see it again after a waiting period, typically 60 to 90 days depending on the product.
How are my responses used?¶
Your responses are used by the product team to:
- Measure how well the product is meeting your needs
- Identify which features to build or improve
- Understand which types of users value the product most
Your responses are not used for advertising targeting and are not sold.
What data is collected?¶
When you complete a survey, the following is recorded:
- Your answers to the survey questions
- Your user ID (provided by the product you use, typically an anonymous internal identifier rather than your email address)
- The date and time of your response
- The product's name and survey ID
If the product team has configured anonymous mode, no user ID is recorded. Only the answer data is stored.
Feedback board¶
What is the feedback board?¶
The feedback board is a public space where users can submit ideas, report problems, and vote on each other's suggestions. The product team uses it to decide what to build next.
How do I submit feedback?¶
- Click Submit feedback on the board.
- Choose whether you are submitting an Idea (something new you want) or a Problem (something that is not working for you).
- Write a title (5–200 characters) and a description (20–5,000 characters).
- Submit. Your submission goes into a moderation queue before appearing publicly.
Once approved, your submission is visible to all users of the board and can receive votes and comments.
How do I vote on a submission?¶
Click the vote button (arrow icon) on any submission card. Voting signals to the product team that you share this need. You can vote for as many submissions as you like.
Clicking the vote button again will remove your vote.
How do I follow a submission?¶
Click Follow on any submission detail page. You will receive an email notification when the status changes, for example when the team moves it to Planned or Shipped.
You are automatically followed on any submission you vote on.
What do the status labels mean?¶
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Open | The submission is visible and accepting votes |
| Under Review | The team is evaluating it |
| Planned | The team has committed to building it |
| In Progress | Work has started |
| Shipped | It has been delivered |
| Declined | The team has decided not to build it |
| Merged | This submission was a duplicate. See the linked submission |
Account¶
Do I need an account?¶
You can complete surveys and vote on feedback submissions without an account. An account is required to submit feedback and to receive status update notifications.
How do I create an account?¶
Click Sign in in the navigation. You can sign up with your email address (a magic link is sent, no password required) or with your GitHub account.
How do I export my data?¶
You can download a copy of all data Canviq holds about you from your profile page:
- Sign in to your account.
- Go to Profile > Privacy.
- Click Download my data.
Your data is exported as a JSON file within a few seconds. It includes your submissions, votes, comments, and survey responses.
How do I delete my account?¶
Go to Profile > Privacy > Delete account. You will be asked to confirm.
After deletion:
- Your submissions are anonymized (your name is removed; the content remains visible unless you request content removal separately).
- Your votes and comments are removed.
- Your survey responses are anonymized. Answers are retained but your user ID is removed.
- Your account and all personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days.
Deletion cannot be undone after the 30-day grace period expires. If you want to delete specific submissions rather than your full account, contact the feedback board's support team directly.
Email notifications¶
What emails will I receive?¶
If you have an account and follow submissions, you will receive an email when a submission you follow changes status.
How do I unsubscribe?¶
Every notification email includes an Unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it removes you from notifications for that submission without requiring you to sign in.
To stop all notification emails, go to Profile > Notifications and disable the toggle for email notifications.
Unsubscribing from notifications does not delete your account.
Is my data protected under GDPR?¶
Yes. Canviq is GDPR-compliant. Your rights include:
- Access: download your data at any time from your profile
- Correction: update your profile information at any time
- Deletion: delete your account and request data erasure
- Objection: opt out of non-essential data processing
For data-related requests, use the profile page tools described above. If you need further assistance, contact the product team through the feedback board's contact page.
